14 Jul ROC Cancer Benefit Portsmouth Boating Center

With Thunderstorm cells passing like small islands with torrent rains and 22-25kt winds, The Belle heads south to the Portsmouth Boating Center to support the ROC Solid Foundation charity drive to raise funds to install swingsets/playgrounds in the backyards for children with cancer.  Close-hauled with a steady 8kt SSW and riding the flood tide in, we dodged most of the thunderstorm cells, but got pelted with the rain from the edges of many passing squal lines. The ROC Solid folks did a great job ...The Island Boys band played til 11PM, the barbeque was superb, and the corn-hole games were a barrel of fun. Family joined us for fun at the party. What a great time! We slept in (keeping the AC at a comfortable 70)...then rode the tide out to home, along with a 15kt westerly, giving a great 7.5kt broad-reach run home..as Karen finished another book.  Smooth run. Fun weekend for sure!
