15 Sep Tri-Service Cup Race...first run

With the winds howling 22-27kts and gusts in low 30s, and the Chesapeake Bay's goolish sky and 4-5' seas rolling down from the NE, around 35 sail boats from the Army, Navy, and Air Force sailing clubs marshalled for the annual Service Club bragging rights for the Southern Bay.  With only stay 'sal and 15% of the main, The Belle straddled the short swells holding 6-7kts. Many boats withdrew early as the seas and winds continued to build - The Belle held strong, this was her kind of wind and weather. The race committee abandoned the race after 30min of waiting past the scheduled start anticipating a weather window...that never came.  More to follow on the make-up race scheduled on 22 Sept.
